Breast Cancer Assistance Program (BCAP)
In partnership with Rx Outreach, SOSI will provide access to low cost medication. In some circumstances we will provide no cost medication for 90 days to breast cancer survivors. We are currently raising funds under the Million $ Access Campaign to provide no cost medication, co-payment for a doctors’ visit and patient navigation services beginning February 2019 to survivors in need.
SOSI - Support & Networking Group - SOSI
Support Group meets the third Saturday of each month - 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM, Kaiser Permanente, 1221 Mercantile Lane, First Floor Conference Rooms, Upper Marlboro, MD 20774. Our goal is to provide a supportive environment for survivors of breast cancer while helping to improve the continuum of care.
SOSI Fitness Club
Is a members-only wellness program designed to help promote a healthier lifestyle. A standardized health & wellness program implemented to include wellness tips and the importance of physical fitness for women of color. The SOSI Fitness Club will also play an important role in motivating young women to examine the psychological effects of lifestyle choices and helping to create a better wellness program.
Real Men Wear Pink/Black Program (RMWP)
A quarterly meeting for male supporters providing information, support and resources to help them provide support for their female breast cancer survivors. They will help raise awareness, inspire involvement and support efforts to fight breast cancer in our community.
Body Beautiful Program provides mastectomy care for breast cancer survivors helping shed light on the importance of post mastectomy care for survivors. “Having a breast removed leaves a woman with two lives, one before the loss and the one after”. Our Body Beautiful Program is designed to help women in underserved communities gain access to the necessary resources after a mastectomy.
Saddle Up To Cancer
This program is designed to use the healing and therapeutic power of horses to improve the balance, strength, self confidence and quality of life for breast cancer survivors. It is also effective because it connects the physical, psychological and spiritual elements of healing. The retreats are open to breast cancer survivors in post recovery and are free to participants. Saddle Up To Cancer provides an excellent opportunity for survivors to connect and fellowship.
Beauty and The Breast
Beauty and The Breast Program is dedicated to mobilizing salon professionals and others to help reduce breast cancer mortality by improving breast health awareness and providing access resources within the community. The program provides breast health training to salon professionals and offer monthly Breast Health Sister Circles to clients.
SOSI will offer Art therapy facilitated by local artist; Karen Y. Buster. Karen will utilize art media, the creative process, and the resulting work of art to explore each participants feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts and foster self-awareness.
